Chester Greenwood, age 15, trod out to the ice
and glid along its surface with such grace
but as he tried to stave off the feeling on his skin
he only further noticed the cold upon his face
And no attempt to shield it proved to shelter his ears
which shivered in the bitter Northern wind
vibrating in the freezing air they cried out to his brain
"this is the day you change the world"
Where does it come from? How does one see?
precisely what the world needs to thrive
which wire to where? But not in this case,
because these wires surely ain't live
Tufts of fur are all I need for the ears
to make the magic come around
to beat the snow and wind, drive it back
I must muffle every sound
And now it is complete

Calvin Coolidge
04:49
|

Calvin Coolidge had his time in the sun
but when all was said and done he was just another dude
I could try to be what dictators are made of
but you know I've got some rare disease that disqualifies me
from ever being able to resist
doing anything to get a slap on the wrist
Everyone has said at one time or another
that it's time to get a leg up on this terrible design
but when it's time to ask for that investment there
seems to always be a clause that robs you of your sight
and gives it to some undeserving leech
always in your sight but always slightly out of reach
Read a book, figure it out
Put a little thought into the working day
and when you get your pay you'll know that its deserved
but if that's not enough, like it's not for me
then perhaps we'll have a chance to see our fortunes made elsewhere
like maybe somewhere up on PEI
who's to say what we can do beyond just live and die?
Read a book, figure it out

Get Me The Navy
02:21
|

Well the army can't be trusted
and the air force is a lie
and the coast guard is simply not for you
But I know that it's your dream
to be a military man
oh, what is a boy to do?
Oh, get me the navy
you'll earn some honest cash
don't you think that what you need
is rum, sodomy, and the lash
I would love to see you rise
up through the ranks
make your mother smile on down
And you look so good in blue
and you've always loved the sea
wouldn't you like to serve the crown?

Whale's Mouth
07:06
|
|||
We were promised everything that we'd lost with time
the splendor of a world untouched and unspoiled
and yet here I stand, with no face to my name
the un-teleported man on Earth's charred soil
When I first entered the whale's mouth, every memory I had
was swallowed and eroded by the acid of the tide
replaced with metal filings that attached onto my brain
and swirled amidst the silver cords that circled down the drain
Pulsars and the faces of the men became a wall
of energy and sound that liquefied my brittle skull
the whale let out a soft cry that I took to signal death
resounded from the fragments of my parts that were still left
I remember, I remember who I am
I have nothing but a name
and what that name is, what could it be?
is it different than before?
Truth is currency in a state of constant lies
where minds are malleable as paper planets in the sky
each reality unfolds along expanded color wheels
knowing not which color will then turn out to be real
Now I know, I know what it's like
to ride through a life
and come out with something I can't return

Lethal White
03:07
|
|||
She was built to last
but she never had a chance
Lethal white, lethal white
can you see me?
can you hear me?
why would they do this to you?
what did they put you through?
I can't imagine what goes on in your head
Lethal white, lethal white
don't you feel me here?
do you know me?
if you could see what you are
see your beauty and your scars
I'd hope you know that I could give you love

There was once a time when madness ruled the land and
nobody knew what could be achieved when
wood and loops of wire were the solstice soup du jour and
nobody knew and nobody believed
There was once a time when winter worked a man and
nobody knew how to walk the snow and
wood and loops of wire kept Chester satisfied and
nobody knew and nobody believed
That somewhere along the Canadian border
there were some brave souls who sought to improve
the transportation and to stab at the heart of winter
but of the three there could only be one
Look outside the window, what's that on the ground? and
how will you cross it and get in to town? there's
something that we need to walk upon the water
frozen in a sheet, there's something that we need
Look outside the window, what's that on the ground? and
how will you cross it and get in to town? there's
something that we need to walk upon the ice and
slip and slide away, or we admit defeat
But somewhere along the Canadian border
there were some brave souls telepathically linked
and laid out the path that would cut through the snow and ice
with their fantastic machine
